Driving Forces of the Renaissance

Carpaccio's Venice

I believe this picture represents the rivalry between the city states because of how Venice is portrayed. This painting of a city state shows the people of Venice in their fancy clothes, next to their intricate architecture, and using their unique transportation. I think that Carpaccio's painting shows Venice influenced by the rivalry amongst the city states because the painting is portrayed in a busy, ever-changing vision. This vision is showing how Venice is progressing in its ideas, influenced by rivalry amongst the city states.

Because of the Competition and Rivalry amongst the city states, city states forced each other into progressing in their ideas which enabled them to discover new things, leaving us with knowledge we have today.
